Cheap Hialeah Racetrack Hotels
Hialeah Racetrack in Hialeah, Florida is hailed as one of the oldest recreational centers in southern Florida. The park initially opened in 1921 by the world-renown aviation innovator, Glenn Curtiss and partner James Bright, and in 1925 the Miami Jockey Club launched the racetrack. Hialeah was designated an official sanctuary for the American Flamingo by the Audubon Society after flamingos began flocking there. The National Register of Historic Places included the Hialeah Racetrack in March 1979.
The historic landmark was featured in a horseracing movie Let It Ride, which starred Richard Dreyfuss, Terri Garr and Jennifer Tilly. It was also the venue for the Flamingo Stakes race, which was a key component in the Kentucky Derby. In 2001 the park was closed to the public, but citizens of Hialeah have formed an organization to save the park.
